Obituary
Southbury - Mrs. Alice (Smith) Forster, 77, passed away January 10, 2010, after a courageous battle against cancer. She was at home with her loving family by her side.
She was born February 25, 1932, in Dundee, Scotland to John and Margaret Smith. She spent her childhood and early adult life in London, England. Alice was an evacuee during World War 11 while her family supported the war efforts. She moved to the United States in 1966 and started a new life with her husband and daughters.
She was a member of the Lioness Club of Beacon Falls and enjoyed working with various charities.
Her interests included family, gardening, sewing, knitting and reading. For several years she enjoyed making uniforms for Southbury Eagles Drum Corps and Mattatuck Fife and Drum Corps. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her grandchildren who were the love of her life.
Mrs. Forster is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Michael Forster; 2 daughters, Karen Ambari of Beacon Falls, CT, Wendy Hopkinson and her husband Mark of Beacon Falls, CT; four grandchildren, Adriana and Dibran Ambari, and Matthew and Andrew Hopkinson, all of Beacon Falls; a sister, Margaret Ferguson of London, England.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Tom and David Smith.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses from Hospice who helped tremendously during this difficult time.
